12.4 Drivers fail due to not supporting the version of Xorg released with Fedora 17 - buy nvidia, I wish I had.  I've tried using my 6870 with fedora 16 and 17 and have never been able to get the official driver to work.  At the moment after installing in fedora 17 I get a segmentation fault. Why aren't later versions of Xorg supported? why isn't amds linux support as good as nvidias?
amd catalyst 12.6 beta can work well with fedora 17.

nvidia has better linux drivers because it places more importance on the workstation graphic market than AMD
