Please remain objective

Removing subjective/personal comments.

Please keep article contents objective and verifiable, removing the 'consequently, there is a revenue loss'. If you can provide an indication of actual verifiable revenue loss, by all means. Likewise, the personal priorities indicated by 'nice-to-have' packaging, but F7 is more important is a subjective statement based on your priorities, not AMD's or other companies or individual.

Works for me

The 8.39.4 Driver works for me on FC7 (Lenovo T60p with FireGL 5200). Kernel: 2.6.22.1-27.fc7

Output of fglrxinfo: display: :0.0 screen: 0 OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc. OpenGL renderer string: ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5200 OpenGL version string: 2.0.6650 (8.39.4)

8.40.4 does not work with FC7 out of the box

libstdc++.6.0.8 is not backward compatible with the needed libstdc++.5

Works nicely on Fedora core 7

Fresh install of Fedora core 7 on my laptop with a Radeon Mobility X1600

Downloaded rev 8.42.3, runned it with no errors. However, I had to manually pick fglrx in the hardware section of the video display settings. Beside that, works great.

An alternative, non technical way
