<div>I'm a (mostly) happy user of a Linux-only (Gentoo) IBM Thinkpad T43, and of a desktop machine with a R600-based card.<br />

Since using ATI's binary drivers caused unpleasant surprises at every kernel update, I switched to the radeon and radeonhd drivers, and where possible to using nvidia graphics cards (which are in my experience way less problematic).<br />
