The link https://launchpad.net/~dtl131/+archive/catalysthacks/+index says I am forbidden to view the contents, even if I register. Would be very interesting to test this PPA and VLC.

Revision as of 07:05, 13 June 2012

Generate a new /etc/X11/xorg.conf file

I believe that the section about making a copy of the old xorg file should be removed, as it seems to me it is making a lot of people getting stuck, not reading the instructions enough attentively
I will remove the section in roughly two weeks if none complains or express anything against it. --Olof nord 22:39, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

I guess that is okay. IIRC, aticonfig will automatically backup the existing xorg.conf. I just didn't want anyone to lose an xorg.conf that they worked hard on. --Dtl131 18:29, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

The section is now removed

plain text version

Perhaps somewhere better to post this, but: found it nice to have a text version on my HD so I could do the install from term.

Posted it here (1 month to delete) http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=0NCM49FJ

if one would like to host it here. Lynx is of course another viable alternative.

wrong link / file

The document says to get the driver (manual install) from http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/ati-driver-installer-12-1-x86.x86_64.run but the actual URL is http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/amd-driver-installer-12-1-x86.x86_64.run The file is amd-driver-installer-12-1-x86.x86_64.run (starts with amd, not ati). This is seen in other places on this document.
